Ladies group

The Group started out as ‘Young Wives’ at St Mark’s Church in 1966. Eventually we moved to the Community Centre and now have our meetings at 8pm in the Lower Hall on the 2nd Tuesday of each month (with the exception of August).

We have had many interesting and informative speakers over the years together with Social events plus a Summer Outing.

We try to appeal to all our members and here are some of the varied topics our speakers have covered in the past:-

Beekeeping & Honey
Growing Lavender
The Work of the Air Ambulance with the U.N. in Bosnia
Beer Tasting
Flower Arranging
Chocolate making
Elizabethan Costumes
Slide Shows
The History of the Workhouse in Sheffield
What the Butler Saw
Wedding dresses through the years
A talk by Sports Journalist Peter Taylor

Our annual outings have included visits to:-

Wortley Hall
Bakewell Museum
Youlgreave Well Dressing
Fosters Bakery
Elsecar Heritage Centre
Troway
Laughton Pottery
Donkey Sanctuary
Owlerton Greyhound Stadium, where we enjoyed a meal in the Panorama Restaurant
